Mission Statement

Academic excellence within a strong community of equality and respect, where potential and opportunity are realised.

Introduction

George Abbot School is a forward thinking academy providing an inclusive education, for around 2,000 young people, aged 11-18. We are located in Burpham, Guildford with good transport links to the surrounding area.

We have a highly skilled and motivated staff team and, as a school, are constantly seeking to refine our teaching practice. This means that our students benefit from an exceptional learning experience. We are part of a network of successful schools and are able to provide Initial Teacher Training and deliver the Early Career Framework programme to early career teachers across Surrey. We prioritise the provision of highest quality continuing professional development for all teaching and support staff.

We are proud of our excellent resources and have great facilities for sport, visual and performing arts, ICT, as well as a range of well equipped science labs and general classrooms. We remain ambitious and continually seek ways to improve the school environment.

We are a member of the Learning Partners Academy Trust and work closely with a number of partner schools, not only within the trust but nationally.

British Values and Personal Development:

The ethos pervading George Abbot School is founded on the core school value of Respect.
Our ethos is supportive of and complementary to the British Values all schools should promote.

See below the two diagrams that outline the provision made at George Abbot to explicitly promote both British Values and the Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural development of students.
